Jamestown, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The championship night is set with top seeded and 7th ranked Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier and number 3 seed Ellendale advancing to the championship. Medina-Pingree-Buchanan and South Border both won elimination games to advance to Tuesday’s region qualifiers.

Elimination game:

Medina-Pingree-Buchanan (MPB) Thunder  61     Kidder County (KC) Wolves  37

MPB trailed 14-11 after one quarter and then outscored the Wolves 50-23 in the final 3 quarters to earn the 61-37 victory. The Thunder were paced by Rylan Wick with a game high 25 points and 10 rebounds. Wick was 5-11 shooting from behind the arc and 9-16 overall from the field. Gage Magstadt added 17 points and 9 rebounds for the Thunder. KC was led by Grady Larson with 10 points and Lincoln Harter with 8 points. KC ends the season with a 2-20 overall record. MPB improved to 12-9 overall and will play at 4:00 on Tuesday versus LHMB.

 

Elimination game:

South Border (SB) Mustangs  68         Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter (NGS) Imperials  40

South Border had 4 players score in double figures led by Kaden Bader with a game high 21 points. Trevor Schmidt added 15 points and a game high 12 rebounds. Levi Buchholz added 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Connor Kosiak added 10 points, 9 rebounds, and a game high 5 assists.  NGS was paced by Tristan Schaffner with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Braxton Ryum and Eli Ketterling added 7 points each. The Imperials finish the season at 6-15 overall and the Mustangs improved to 9-12 and will play at approx. 5:30 on Tuesday versus LLM.

Semifinal

Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) Rebels  54     LaMoure-Litchville-Marion (LMM) Loboes  44

Jacob Nitschke scored 22 points and had a game high 11 rebounds to help lead the Rebels to a 54-44 win over LLM. Brad Kinzler added 13 points and 2 steals. Joe Kramlich added 9 points and a game high 3 steals tied with teammate Zeke Barnick. Max Musland led the Loboes with a game high 26 points and added 8 rebounds. Brayan Karlgaard added 8 points and Owen Lesko added 7 points and 4 rebounds. LLM drops to 12-9 overall and will play SB at approx. 5:30 in a Region 1 qualifier versus SB. EKM will play Ellendale in the District 2 championship on Tuesday night around 7:30 P.M.

Semifinal

Ellendale Cardinals  55       Linton-HMB (LHMB) Lions  33

Mason Molan scored 17 points and added a game high 12 rebounds to help lead the number 3 seed Cardinals to a 55-33 win over 9th rated and second seeded LHMB. Anton Geller added a double-double as well with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Jack Bommersbach also scored 14 points to aid the Cardinals victory. The Lions were led bt Gentry Richter with a game high 18 points and added 11 rebounds. Justin Tschosik added 7 points for LHMB. The Lions dropped to 17-4 overall and will play MPB in a Region 1 qualifying game at 4:00 on Tuesday afternoon. Ellendale improved to 14-7 and will face EKM in the district 2 championship Tuesday night.
