WILLISTON – Once again, Jamestown Blue Jay Girls Basketball played inspired basketball and that has them in the WDA Tournament.

After losing twice to Williston in the regular season earlier this month, the Blue Jays pulled away in the second half Friday to defeat the Coyotes 71-55 in the WDA play-in game at Jon Cole Gymnasium.

Mea Ulland, after missing a Tuesday win at Dickinson, led Jamestown (6-16) with 20 points and six of the Blue Jays’ 14 three-pointers.  Ulland scored 11 in the Blue Jays’ second half rally.  Haley Attleson scored 16 and hit four three-pointers.  Adisyn Yunck scored 15, including 11 in the second half.  Amelia Newman scored 12, with 10 after halftime.

Elizabeth Milne led Williston (3-19) with 14 points and three three-pointers.  Micah Fleck had 10.

Jamestown led by as much as seven in the first half before Williston rallied for a 31-28 halftime lead.

A go-ahead three-pointer by Hannah Attleson started a 17-4 run, which included two three-pointers by Newman, and Jamestown took the game from a 39-39 tie to a 56-43 lead.  The Blue Jays led late in the game by as much as 21 in compiling their highest point total of the season and earning their first winning streak since the the first two games of the season.

Jamestown will play top seed Minot Thursday in the Bismarck Event Center in the first round of the WDA Tournament.  Coverage will begin at around 1:45 on Thursday on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
