GRIGGS COUNTY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) — A DUI-related crash involving a single vehicle left two people from Jamestown injured on Sunday evening.

The accident happened shortly after 11 pm on Highway 1 near milepost 6, approximately 9 miles southwest of Cooperstown.

The vehicle involved was identified as a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, which was traveling southbound on Highway 1. The driver,36 year-old Casey Zuck of Jamestown, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into the west ditch. Upon attempting to correct the course, Zuck overcompensated, leading the vehicle to cross over into the east ditch before colliding with a power pole.

Both occupants of the vehicle, including Zuck and 41 year-old Kandace Dwelle also from Jamestown, sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. They were transported to the Cooperstown Medical Center treated and released.

Authorities confirmed that Zuck was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, he was cited for possessing an open container of alcohol and care required. Dwelle was charged with open container.
