
MANDAN – Morgan Venne scored the go-ahead go in the second period Sunday as the University of Jamestown Division 1 Men’s Hockey team captured its second straight Midwest College Hockey postseason championship with a 2-1 win over the University of Mary at the Starion Sports Complex.
Kole Christensson scored a powerplay goal at 6:41 of the first period to give Jamestown (24-8-0) a 1-0 lead.
Andrew Huber tied the game for UMary (25-14) at 4:24 of the second period.
Brandon Weare made 26 saves in goal and was named as the most outstanding player in the tournament.
UJ will next play in the ACHA Division 1 National Tournament March 7-12 near St. Louis.
