SEWARD, NE – 133-pound University of Jamestown wrestler Isaiah Miller won the GPAC championship in his weight class Saturday in the GPAC Men’s Wrestling Championships, hosted by Concordia University.  Miller automatically qualifies for the NAIA National Championships.

As a team, the Jimmies finished seventh of nine.

Miller won his opening match by major decision over Temuujin Natsagdorj of Dakota Wesleyan.  In the semifinal round, he pinned 21st-ranked Devin Avedissian of Doane.  Miller then won a 8-4 decision over 24th-ranked Jarrod Gilliam of Briar Cliff in the title match.

Tommy Beringer was third at 149 pounds.  Jake Rau was fourth at 197.  Chance Robinson was sixth at 285.  They all missed automatic qualification for the national tournament by one place.  At-large qualifiers will be determined by Tuesday by the NAIA.

Also for UJ, Pedro Corona was sixth at 141 pounds.

The NAIA National Men’s Wrestling Championships will be held February 29-March 2 at Park City, Kansas.
