VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com, photo courtesy of VCSUVikings.com) This weekend marks the end of the indoor track and field season for Valley City State, a season that has been very productive and could lead to multiple awards for Viking athletes.
Brookings, SD will host the NSAA Indoor Championships, capping a season that started in December for the Vikings and other teams in the conference. Individual performances that finish in the top three, as well as relays that are either champions or runners-up, will receive all-conference honors.
Two Viking men have the top seasonal marks in their events heading into the weekend. Jaiden Peraza has the top-ranked high jump and long jump. Cameron Champagnie has the top triple jump.
The Viking women also have two athletes with top marks. Jasmine Barnes has the top NSAA mark in the 5000 meter run, and Sadie Hansen has the top shot put throw.
