VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) It has been a welcome start to the three-division system era of basketball for the Hi-Liner girls.
Valley City will enter Region 1 tournament play next week as the second-seed in a seven-team field. A late loss to Northern Cass kept the Hi-Liners from catching Kindred for the top seed.
The final mark for the Hi-Liners was 15-6, and they will face seventh-seeded Lisbon Monday at the SHAC in Fargo Monday at 6:00 PM. Lisbon is 4-17 this year.
Other matchups include three-seed Wahpeton facing six-seed Fargo Oak Grove at the end of Monday, and the tournament starts with four-seed Northern Cass facing five-seed Central Cass.
The tournament champion receives a spot in the state tournament. The runner-up and third-place team will advance to play-in games to the state tournament against teams from Region 2, the northeast region of the state.
