JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Shortly after 8:30 am on Thursday, the Jamestown Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming out of a city garbage truck near the 100 block of 3rd Street NW in the alley.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the city garbage truck driver had dumped the smoldering garbage on the ground. Firefighters doused the pile of garbage. There was no fire, but crews did observe hot ashes in the garbage.

No damage or injuries were reported. Units were on scene for about 15 minutes.
