FARGO – She isn’t too bad for a seventh-grader.

112-pound Jamestown Blue Jay girls wrestler Kaydence Golding won three matches Thursday to advance to Friday’s title match at the NDHSAA Class A Wrestling State Championships at the FARGODOME.

Also, top seed Grady Anderson advanced to the boys’ 152-pound championship match with three wins on Thursday.

Golding, the second seed at her weight, pinned Minot’s Madilynn Golphne in 35 seconds in the first round.  In the quarterfinal, Golding recorded another fall over Anna Engwicht of New Salem-Almont 34 seconds into the second period.  Golding had another pin in the semifinal, defeating Victoria Sanchez of Valley City at 1:56 of the first period.

Golding will wrestle top seed Alicia Kenfack, a Bismarck Legacy freshman, Friday for the 112-pound title.

Anderson, the senior and top seed and winner at 152 in last week’s WDA Tournament, pinned Brayden Nayes of Sheyenne in the first round at 55 seconds of the first period.  Anderson won his quarterfinal match with a 17-2 major decision over Kaullen Hegney of Mandan.  In the semifinal, Anderson improved to 38-1 this season with a pin over Kaden Kraft of Minot 1:56 into the second period.

Anderson’s championship match on Friday will be against third seed and senior Sawyer Carr of Sheyenne.

Among other Jamestown girls, 148-pounder Gabby Romans advanced to the semifinal, but lost to Cadence Cook of Bismarck Century.  Romans will wrestle for third place on Friday.  Grace Bercier, at 170 pounds, lost in the semifinal to Victoria Pasterz of Des-Lacs Burlington and also will wrestle Friday for third place.

One other Blue Jay boys wrestler made the semifinal.  114-pounder Jack Schauer lost in an 8-6 decision to Grady Iverson of Bismarck Century.  Schauer will wrestle for third on Friday.
