FARGO – Before Thursday, the hopes for Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Hockey to make the state tournament were very slight. Now, they are gone.
Fargo North-South, who will play for a third straight state championship next week, shut out Jamestown 3-0 Thursday at the Fargo Coliseum, ending the Blue Jays’ season.
Jamestown (4-14-2-3, 4-13-2-3 ND League) needed a regulation win plus losses from Century, Minot and Williston to make the state tournament.
In her final game as a Blue Jay, senior Olivia Sorlie was again excellent in goal, making 42 saves. But Jamestown was shutout for the ninth time this season and held to two goals or less for the 20th time in 23 games.
