VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NDSU) – NDSU Extension is offering Stop the Bleed training sessions with the focus of targeting farmers but also welcoming any residents or EMS personnel that are interested. The hope is to decrease the number of fatalities from farm accidents in situations where a person bleeds out before EMS gets a chance to respond.
NDSU Extension Agent Alicia Harstad said we are offering two training sessions during the North Dakota Winter Show, the first on Wednesday, March 6th and the second on Thursday, March 7th at 9:30 am each morning in south exhibit building of the North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City.
March 6th info can be found: https://www.ndsu.edu/agriculture/extension/events/stop-bleed-barnes-county-session-1
March 7th info can be found: https://www.ndsu.edu/agriculture/extension/events/stop-bleed-barnes-county-session-2
Harstad said we are asking people to register as we need 10 people to hold the training and can only have a max of 20 per session. Registration link is above.
She said we also can get people certified to be Stop the Bleed trainers if you know of someone who might be interesting in teaching them in the future. To be a trainer you do need to have some EMS qualifications. More info can be found on the Stop the Bleed website: http://tinyurl.com/ymxfdazp or in the attachment that has more information.
