Jack L. Bethke, 94, of Jamestown, ND, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2024, at Eventide in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Jack Louis Bethke was born on February 17, 1929, in Edgeley, North Dakota, the first of four children to Arthur W. Bethke and Edna (McCormick) Bethke.

He was raised on the family farm east of Edgeley and graduated from Edgeley High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army from March 1951 to 1953 and then transferred to the Army Reserves till July 1956. He was very proud to serve his country and appreciated being recognized as a veteran.  He also was a presence at Concordia Lutheran Church in Jamestown.

He then worked as a farmhand for Horoe Air Craft, Famers Union Oil Company & Elevator, M&H Gas Station, Wedgecore, Gladstone Inn, and the Bison Cinema.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Barnick, of Jamestown, North Dakota; his nephew Lance (Veronica) Barnick and great nephew Parker, of Mandan, North Dakota; niece Debra (Lloyd) Suhr; and great niece, Mikaela, of Bismarck, North Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Bethke, sister Norma Bethke, and brother-in-law Kenneth “Sam” Barnick.

A private service will be held at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, North Dakota.
