FT. TOTTEN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Eighth grader Suri Gourd drops in 29 points to help Four Winds/Minnewaukan defeat receiving votes Carrington Cardinals Monday night 60-56. Carrington is now 4-5 in Region 2 and 15-6 overall, FWM improves to 4-6 in Region 2 and 10-10 overall.
The Indians led the entire way, leading by as many as 13 late in the second quarter, 26-13. Carrington got within two points late in the fourth quarter, but some big free throws from Gourd helped secure the win. She was 10-11 at the free throw line for the game, including 7-8 in the fourth quarter. Cailee Hanson added nine points, all threes for FWM. For Carrington, they were led by Kacie Rexin with 22, including four 3-pointers. Edyn Hoornaert added 12.
Next up for RV Carrington will be on Monday, February 19th at Mayville State University for the first round of the Division A Region 2 Tournament. Carrington will be the three seed and take on six seeded Hillsboro/Central Valley at 7pm. The 530pm game will feature No. 4 Four Winds/Minn. vs. No. 5 Grafton. The first round is single elimination. No. 1 Thompson and No. 2 Devils Lake have a first round bye and will automatically move into Tuesday nights semifinals.
