Wahpeton, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes couldn’t get much going against the Sargent County Bulldogs falling 50-32 in the District 1 Semifinals.

In the first half the Bulldogs built a huge lead of 28-8 as the Tornadoes couldn’t solve the defense as they only went 1/15 from the field as they didn’t get their first field goal till the end of the half with a Kassidy Jackson buzzer beater. They were out bodied as well as they only had 13 rebounds to the Bulldogs 21. The half ended 28-8.

The second half started with Sargent County building the lead to 24. Oakes would then go on a 14-2 run to cut the lead in half to 34-22 at the end  of the 3rd quarter. The lead would be cut down to 10 several times in the fourth however Oakes just couldn’t find a way to get any closer, despite 3 Bulldogs on 4 fouls, as the Bulldogs went on a run to end the game 50-32.

The Tornadoes were led in scoring by Brianna Schmitz who had 19 points while Karleigh Kadoun had 19 for Sargent County as well.

The Tornadoes now have to Play Richland at 4:30 on Monday in a Region Qualifier the game can be heard on KDDR The Tornado while Sargent County takes on Maple River in the Championship game.
