Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Lisbon Broncos won the 2024 Class B East Region tournament with 247 team points and crowned 5 individual champions. South Border finished in second place with 237 points and crowned 3 champions and Northern Lights finished in third place with 194.5 points and also had 3 individual champions. Oakes (149.5) and Carrington (149) rounded out the top five teams and Carrington added 1 champion and  Grafton added the final champion. Seventeen teams competed in the tournament.

The Lisbon Broncos placed 12 of 13 wrestlers in the top 8 to qualify for next weeks state B wrestling tournament. Cruz Reinke (32-11) defeated Dru Carr (41-12) of Carrington 4-2 in the title match to win the title at 114 pounds and also knocked off the states top ranked wrestler Dalton Feist (41-2) of Napoleon in the semifinals by fall at 5:39. Cruz Reinke was the 5 seed entering the tournament. Kashden Wadeson (number 1 seed-32-3) pinned his way into the title match at 127 pounds and defeated second seeded Brock Johnson (31-5) of Kindred 7-0 in the title match. Blaze Reinke (37-2) pinned his way the finals at 152 pounds and defeated Brody Hoffman (28-8) of South Border in the title match by a major decision 11-3. Eli Lyons (3 seed–37-6) pinned his way through the tournament and capped it off with a fall at 4:36 over top seeded Josh Meehl (18-3) of Oakes in the title match. Top seeded Mike Nelson (22-2) pinned his way into the title match and earned a hard fought sudden victory overtime win 3-1 over Jace Nitschke (26-9) of South Border. The rest of the Broncos place winners qualifying for the state tournament were Ryan Enge (29-12) at 145 pounds. Enge reached the finals at 145 pounds and was defeated by top seeded Corbin Clifton (44-9) of Carrington by fall at 4:20.  Ian Anderson (28-9) at 107 pounds finishing in fifth place with a 9-5 win over Skye Kramlich (44-15) of Carrington. Greyson Lyons (29-18) finished in fourth place losing to Logan Potts (33-7) of LaMoure-LM in the third place match at 121 pounds. Noah Anderson (18-5) finished in third place at 133 pounds Anderson defeated Gabe Clifton (31-16) by  major decision 11-1 in the third place match. Jordan Dick (20-20) was not seeded at 139 pounds but finished in eighth place. Madden Schwab was seeded seventh at 189 pounds and finished in sixth place losing to Carter Ptacek (19-15) by fall in the fifth place match. Aiden Hinkle (23-12) was seeded third at 285 and finished third as he defeated Carrington’s Brody Weisenburger (23-15) by fall in the third place match. Weisenburger pinned Hinkle in the quarterfinals earlier in the tournament.

South Borders champions were Tristen Lepp (21-7) at 133 pounds. Lepp was seeded fifth and pinned top seeded Sawyer Owens (45-4) in the semifinals before winning the title match over Alvy Henderson (21-1) of Northern lights by medical forfeit. Shane Nitschke (31-1) pinned his way through the tournament and capped it off with a fall over Callen Garber (28-15) of Carrington in the title match at 215 pounds. Cole Nitschke (19-6) was seeded second at 285 pounds and defeated top seeded Rodney Wolf (25-4) of Kindred 7-2 in the title match. Other place winners for South Border were Rylan Vetter (26-8) finished second at 107 pounds. Jared Schilling (20-16) finished in fourth place at 114 pounds losing to top seeded Dalton Feist by fall at 2:47.  Schilling was seeded sixth. Brody Michaelson finished sixth at 127 pounds  losing to third seeded Logan Werner (21-6) of Pembina County North by a 11-0 major decision. Ryker Vetter (25-13) was the runner-up at 139 pounds losing by fall to top seeded Justin Hudson (18-3) of Northern Lights at 4:59. Carson Glaesman (22-16) finished fourth at 145 pounds losing a 1-0 decision in the third place match to Havlin Delong (25-7) of Northern Lights. Brody Hoffman was second at 152 pounds, Cole Stock (26-11) finished in fifth place with a 7-3 decision over Tanner Menge of Kindred. Jace Nitschke second at 172 pounds. Daniel Schmacher (26-9) finished third at 189 poinds defeating Brayden Chenault of Hillsboro-CV 3-1 in sudden victory overtime.

Kruiser Burns (34-2) of Grafton won the 121 pound title with a 10-4 decision over Mathias Dahlstrom (38-12) of Oakes. Oakes place winners included Ben Wagner (4th) at 107, Zane Awender (5th) at 133, Case Awender (3rd) at 139, Rylen Wald (8th) at 145, Zade Heier (4th) at 152, Josh Meehl (2nd) at 160, Tate Thorpe (4th) at 172, Carter Ptacek (5th) at 189, and Max Cline (8th) at 285.

Place winners for EEK included Walker Miller (3rd) at 107, Carson Henningsen (7th) at 114, Riggin Sand (5th) at 121, Jaeger Sand (4th) at 127, max Tjernlund (6th) at 152, Greg Fuher (4th) at 160, Benet Giesler (6th) at 172, Ivan Carruth (36-7), second at 189 losing 3-1 to top seeded Cole Henderson (36-1) of Northern Lights. Drew Thorpe (5th) at 215, and Seth Irey (6th) at 285.

LaMoure-LM placers were John Loegring (8th) at 107, Joseph Potts (8th) at 114, Logan Potts (3rd) at 121, Maddux Shockman (4th) at 139, Henry Lettenmaier (7th) at 160, Cael Hebl (3rd) at 172, and Tucker Jones (7th) at 189.

Carrington’s lone champion was Corbin Clifton (44-9) at 145 pounds. Other placers for the Cardinals were Skye Kramlich (6th) at 107, Dru Carr (41-12) second at 114, Gabe Clifton (4th) at 133, Nic Garber (6th) at 139, Max Ciubotareanu (7th) at 172, Callen Garber (2nd) at 215, and Brody Weisenburger (4th) at 215.
