BISMARCK – Jamestown took a 3-0 first-period lead Friday and held on a 4-2 win over Bismarck in the final boys hockey regular season game at the VFW Sports Center.
Tyson Jorissen scored with 8:20 left in the first period for Jamestown (8-11-2-0, 7-9-2-0 WDA), followed by a John Belzer goal with 1:18 to go. Nate Walzer, set up by Belzer, scored with only five seconds left in the opening period.
Dylan Schneider and Gabriel Hamlin scored for Bismarck (1-19-0-1, 1-15-0-1) before the Jays’ Grant Lunde scored into an empty net with 1:16 left in the third period.
Carter Borg made 19 saves in the Jamestown goal.
The Blue Jays will play Minot Thursday in the first round of the WDA Tournament at the VFW Sports Center. Coverage will begin at around 7:00 PM on Thursday on The Voice of the Blue Jays, Jamestown 107.1.
