BISMARCK – The Bismarck Demons made it – well, you know, that word that begins with “h” – Friday for the Jamestown Blue Jays in basketball.
Both Bismarck teams delivered decisive wins, with the girls topping Jamestown 72-32 and the boys winning 100-64.
Girls: Bismarck 72, Jamestown 32
Jersey Berg and Paige Breuer combined to overwhelm the Blue Jays. The two seniors combined for 50 points for Bismarck (13-6, 10-4), with Berg scoring 26 and Breuer notching 24.
Berg scored 20 and Breuer had 17 in the first 18 minutes as the Demons took a 43-23 halftime lead.
Leah Trumbauer and Amelia Newman scored seven points each for Jamestown (4-14, 1-12).
Boys: Bismarck 100, Jamestown 64
Bismarck broke an early 6-6 tie with an 18-0 run and went on to the decisive win.
Andre’ Austin just came short of a triple-double, scoring 16 points with nine rebounds and 10 assists. Preston Lemar scored 16. Weston Scott had 13 points for Bismarck (14-5, 12-2).
Thomas Newman returned for Jamestown (5-13, 3-10) after missing six games with an elbow injury. He led the Blue Jays with 15 points and seven rebounds. Noah Meissner scored 13.
Both Jamestown teams will play Saturday at Williston. Wins for both teams would enhance their chances of avoiding WDA play-in games.
