The good times continue to roll on for Valley City as the Hi-Liner boys erupted for a season-high 81 points against the Northern Cass Jaguars.

Valley City adopted an aggressive mindset from the jump as they continued to pound the ball inside to set up short-range looks. This effort was spearheaded by Carver Pederson, who would finish with 14 points in the game. For the most part, the Hi-Liner defense locked down their Region 1 foe until a pair of three-pointers by Hudson Rietschel cut the Valley City advantage down to 17-12 at the end of quarter number one.

The second would see an all-out offensive battle as the Hi-Liners used five players to pile on 26 points in the second frame. The scoring charge this time would be led by Carson Eggert, who led the way for Valley City with 11 points at halftime. For Northern Cass, the scoring responsibility fell entirely on the shoulders of Trey Husar, who scored all of the Jaguar’s 16 second-quarter points, finishing with a game-high 31 points. However, despite the staggering individual effort, the Jaguars trailed 43-28 at the half.

The third would again see both sides trade baskets as the Jaguars and Hi-Liners looked to spark a run. For Northern Cass, they once again looked to Husar to spark them as he put up another 10 points and tried to will his team back into the game. However, Valley City would match his output as Eggert chipped in another 10 points, with Bryson Heck knocking down a pair of three-pointers, as the Hi-Liners pushed their lead to 65-47 with one quarter left to play.

The fourth would see a flurry of baskets by reserve players for Northern Cass as they managed to whittle the lead to a respectable margin, but ultimately, the Hi-Liners rolled to an impressive 81-68 win led by Eggert’s 28 points.

For Valley City, their record now improves to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in Region 1 play, with their next contest coming February 13th against the Oak Grove Grovers. The next game you can hear on KOVC will be Monday, February 12th, as the Valley City Girls will take on the Northern Cass Jaguars with first place in the region on the line. That game can also be watched on the KOVC TV YouTube Channel.
