MINOT – For about the first seven minutes, the Jamestown Blue Jays were doing just fine against WDA Boys Basketball’s best team.  Then, the Magicians started hitting shots and a shorthanded JHS team was left behind.

Minot dropped Jamestown 75-40 Tuesday at the Magic City Campus Gym, sweeping the regular season series.

The lead changed hands five times in the first seven minutes of the game, with Jamestown having their last lead at 11-9.  Minot then forged a 26-9 run for the rest of the first half, led 35-20 at halftime, and cruised to the win.

Payton Schell paced Minot (17-1, 12-1 WDA) with 19 points.  Aric Winczewski scored 19.

Dalton Lamp and Jaxon Kolpin each scored nine for Jamestown (5-12, 3-9).  Lamp hit two three-pointers.  Noah Meissner and James Horgan scored eight.  The Blue Jays played without two of their top scorers, Ryan Larson and Thomas Newman.

The Blue Jays will play at Bismarck Friday and at Williston Saturday.
