VALLEY CITY, ND  (NewsDakota.com)  Several strong individual performances highlighted the latest meet for VCSU track and field.

Jasmine Barnes (pictured) set the school’s womens record for the mile run at the Bison Indoor in Fargo, running 5:26.28.  The time broke the record by seven seconds.

Barnes, a junior from Redwood Falls, MN, was the top NAIA finisher in the event.

Freshman Emma Muggli, a native of Oakes, ND, broke her own record in the pentathlon, scoring 2,825 points.

Valley City native Karina Olson qualified for finals in the 60-meter hurdles, running 9.09 in the prelims, eventually placing eight.  Twenty-five runners, including NCAA Division I and II levels, as well as NAIA level, were involved.

On the mens side, Cody Frounfelter set a PR in the weight throw, Zac Kuznia hit a PR in the shotput, and Rigo Garcia ran 9:21.97 in the 3,000 meters, ranking him third in the North Star Athletic Association at this point in the season.
