CRETE, NE – Both Jamestown Jimmies basketball teams kept winning streaks going Friday with wins on the road at Doane University.

The Jimmie women defeated Doane 74-67, followed by a 76-66 win by the UJ men over the Tigers at the Haddix Center.

Women: Jamestown 74, Doane 67

In a game plagued by fouls, Kia Tower made sure that Jamestown extended its winning streak to five games.

Tower scored a career-high 27 for the Jimmies (13-8, 9-6 GPAC), with 20 of those coming in the fourth quarter.  Tower was 16-of-18 of the line in the final 10 minutes and scored 20 of the Jimmies’ 28 fourth quarter points.

Kate Cordes scored 11 points for Jamestown, with Audrey Rodakowski dropping in 10.

For Doane (13-8, 8-7), Mak Hatcliff scored 31 points with 14 rebounds while Kaylee Klover scored 12 with 12 rebounds.

Extending the game were 52 fouls and 63 free throws.  Klover, Rylie Rice and Maddie Portwine all fouled out for Doane, with the Jimmies’ Samantha Paulsen also committing five fouls.

Men: Jamestown 76, Doane 66

Playing what interim head coach Greg Ulland called the Jimmies’ best team game of the season, Jamestown used balanced scoring and strong defense to win for the third straight time.

Silas Bennion led Jamestown (12-9, 7-6) with 14 points. eight rebounds, three assists and four steals.  Jimmy Llinas and Colby Vazquez scored 12 each.  Will Cordes had 10.  Antonio Chandler scored seven with seven rebounds.  Llinas and Christian Lietz each had six boards.  Lietz also scored nine.

Caleb Hrabek led Doane (7-15, 2-12) with 15 points.

Jamestown opened the game with a 12-1 run before Doane rallied to tie the game at 16-16.  The Jimmies ran 18-9 over the Tigers to take a 34-25 halftime lead.

Doane cut the lead to six twice, including 51-45 with 11:42 to play.  Jamestown then scored 15 straight points in just under four minutes to lead 66-45 before Doane made the game a little tighter toward the finish.
