THOMPSON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Sophomore Addison Sage hit six of the eight total 3-pointers for Thompson and dropped in a game high 20 points to help No. 1 Thompson Tommies defeat the Carrington Cardinals in Class A Region 2 girls basketball action 54-48. Thompson improves to 7-0 in the region and 17-0 overall, Carrington falls to 4-4 in the region and 12-5 overall.

The game was close for the most part with four early ties in the first half, the Tommies never led by more than 12 points throughout the game. Carrington made things interested in the fourth quarter, after Senior Kacie Rexin hit a three ball to cut the gap to just four points with :23 left. The Cardinals had to commit three fouls to send Thompson to the free throw line, Senior Brenna Martin hit two big free throws to seal the deal. Martin had 13 points and Kya Hurst added 11 for Thompson. Carrington was led by Madison Johnson and Olivia Threadgold with 15 each, Rexin added 14. The Cardinals had eight total 3-pointers, four for Rexin.

Next up for Carrington will be Friday night in Carrington against Harvey/Wells County.
