Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes Boys Basketball team had a rather successful weekend beating the Wyndmere-Lidgerwood Warbirds on Friday by a final score of 52-41 and then following it up with a monster performance against Napoleon-GS winning 100-34 on Saturday.

Jan 26th: Oakes 52 – 41 Wyndmere-Lidgerwood

The game started rather well for the Tornadoes where they went 6/7 in the first quarter from the field to take a 15-9 lead after the first. On defense they were able hold the Warbirds to only 8 field goals for the entire half. However their second quarter was really poor where they only scored 5 points going 2/9 from the field. This allowed the Warbirds to come back and take a 21-20 lead at the half.

The second half started pretty good for Wyndmere-Lidgerwood where they quickly expanded out their lead by having Brian Quam drop 8 points on the quarter but the Tornadoes fought back shooting 8/13 to retake a 38-32 lead. The Tornadoes then relied on a 12 point fourth quarter from Roddek Schmit to win the game 52-41.

The all around leading scorer was Roddek Schmit who went 8/12 on the night for 21 points. Next was Brian Quam who went 7/12 for 17 points. Trey Skoglund also had 16 points going 7/12 and 1/1 from the line. Landon Buehre also had double digits going 4/12 and 2/4 from the charity stripe for 13 points.

The Bank North Player of the Game was Roddek Schmit.

The Tornadoes are now 4-2 in District Play and sitting in 4th currently in the Standings.

Jan 27th: Oakes 100 – 34 Napoleon-GS

The Tornadoes wrapped up their successful week with a dominant victory over the Royals.

The leading all around scorer was Roddek Schmit with 34 points through 4 quarters of play.

The Tornadoes now have a few days off before they return to action when they take on Enderlin at home on February 2nd at 7:00 pm. This game can be heard on KDDR the Tornado.
