FARGO, N.D. (NDLA) – The North Dakota Livestock Alliance (NDLA) is pleased to announce the 5th Annual Livestock Summit, taking place January 30, 2024 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fargo, ND. The 2024 summit will feature speakers, a tradeshow, and breakout sessions. Livestock and crop farmers that are interested in livestock development will have an opportunity to network with industry leaders. The event will be hosted by Emcee, Travis Hoffman, NDSU Extension Sheep Specialist.
The NDLA is proud to welcome various speakers from the region. Dale Stevermer, this year’s Keynote Speaker, is with the National Pork Board and Trails End Farm, his family’s swine finishing operation near Easton, MN. Stevermer also grows corn and soybeans and will discuss the value of innovation while building on the practices of prior generations. He will share his personal experiences working with increased farm productivity, improved care for pigs, long term financial viability, and environmental sustainability.
Doug Bichler of Bichler Simmental will start the summit’s morning session. Bichler will share stories of insight and modernizations made to his family’s farm following an accident that resulted in the loss of his right arm. He resides near Linton, ND and owns a seedstock beef and lamb operation.
The breakout sessions include an impressive array of speakers from across the livestock industry, including Travis Moser of Spring Valley Farms in Morris, MN. He will discuss best-practices for utilizing manure on a diversified crop operation and working with sugar beets. Additionally, several representatives from state and federal agencies will present regarding the multitude of financial incentives currently available, and numerous other exciting topics are on the agenda.
