New Salem, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Lisbon Broncos scored 162 team points and rolled to the 2024 team title at the East-West Classic wrestling tournament. The Broncos crowned just one individual champion at 152 pounds. Senior Blaze Reinke pinned his way through the tournament and capped off the championship match with a fall at 3:27 of the second period over Sawyer Noll (freshman) of Bowman County. Noah Anderson (133) and Mike Nelson (172) reached the title match but had to settle for runner-up honors. Anderson (sophomore) lost to Sawyer Owens (sophomore) from Hillsboro-CV 12-5 and Nelson (senior) lost a 3-1 OT decision to Drew Zwak of Bishop Ryan. Bishop Ryan crowned the most individual titles with 3 overall. Along with Zwak, brothers Cade (sophomore) and Coy (senior) Okeson won titles at 215 and 285. Coy won the 285 pound title in just :29 seconds over Clayton Grove of Williams County. Coy pinned his way through the tournament. Cade also pinned his way through the tourney and capped off the title match at 215 with a fall at 3:38 of the second period over CL Weinberger of New Salem-Almont. Northern Lights was the only other team with multiple champions with Bode Henderson (freshman) at 106 and Cole Henderson (junior) at 189 pounds. Bode defeated Tristian Miller of Williams County 6-0 in the title match. Cole downed Ivan Carruth 6-1 in the 189 pound title. Here are the rest of the championship matches and team sores. Seventeen points separated the 2-10 teams in a balanced tournament after Lisbon.
