JAMESTOWN – The battle for the playoffs is really on now for Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Hockey.
With seven games left in the regular season, the Blue Jays are out of a playoff position for now after Legacy had two goals and three assists from Ava Krikoran and two goals from Alyssa Krikoran Tuesday in a 5-2 win over Jamestown at Wilson Arena.
Jamestown is in ninth place with 16 points, one point out of the last state tournament spot.
Kate LeMoine scored for Legacy (4-7-3-2, 4-6-3-2 ND League) in the first period, with Ava Krikoran making the visitors’ lead 2-0 7:38 into the second.
Hannah Soulis scored her fifth for Jamestown (3-8-2-3, 3-7-2-3) only 1:17 later and Arya Mickelson’s team-leading seventh goal tied the game with 3:10 left in the middle period.
Only 25 seconds later, Alyssa Krikoran scored the go-ahead goal for the Sabers, then scored again 1:15 into the third. Ava Krikoran rounded out the scoring with 1:10 left.
Olivia Sorlie made 44 saves for Jamestown, who was outshot 49-20.
