BISMARCK – Jamestown Blue Jays Basketball expected a difficult test on Tuesday on the road. The Century Patriots, ranked second in both of the NDAPSSA AA polls, made sure that the difficult became the impossible.
Century swept Jamestown in a basketball doubleheader at Olson Gym, with the Patriot girls winning 76-47 and the Century boys dismantling the Blue Jays 94-50.
Girls: Century 76, Jamestown 47
After Jamestown had an early 10-4 lead, Century put together a 25-2 run and easily controlled the rest of the game.
Zoie Austin and Eden Fridley combined for over half the points of the Patriots (11-1, 7-1). Austin scored 20, 17 of which came in the first half. Fridley added 19 with six rebounds.
Leah Trumbauer scored 15 for Jamestown (4-9, 1-7), who had earned their first WDA win of the season four nights earlier over Dickinson. Adisyn Junck scored nine and extended her streak of consecutive free throws made to 19.
Boys: Century 94, Jamestown 50
Century shot 52% from the field, grabbing the lead in the first few minutes and routing the struggling Blue Jays, who lost for the sixth straight time.
Isaiah Schaefer hit six three-pointers and 26 points for Century (11-1, 7-1). Kale Schommer scored 14 and Ajura Spears contributed 10 points off the bench.
Dalton Lamp hit three three-pointers for Jamestown (3-10, 1-7) and scored 13. Noah Meissner scored 12 and Dalton Lamp had 10. Century limited Jamestown to 37% from the field.
