Oakes, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The RV Oakes Tornadoes had a terrific game against the Tri-State Tigers moving them up to a 3-2 district record and 3rd in the District with only two games left. The final score was 64-35. 4
The game started excellent for Oakes as they outscored Tri-State 23-8 in the first quarter. They were able to hold the Tigers to a mere 3 field goals in the quarter as well while going 9/14 themselves. The second quarter however saw Tri-State battle back to a 10 point disadvantage as Shari Laurence went off in the quarter goin 4/6 from the field and 1/2 from the stripe for 9 points in the quarter. The score at the half was 37-27.
The 2nd half was all Tornadoes as they held Tri-State to only 2 field goals throughout the entire half. They played shut down defense all night with a lot of steals under their belt. The game got out of hand in the third with a score of 53-30. The final frame saw the Tornadoes continue their dominant performance and earn the 64-35 victory.
The all around leading scorer was Lily Thorpe who went 8/11 from the field and 3/6 from the stripe for 19 points. Brianna Schmitz was next with 16 points going 7/15 from the field and 2/4 from the free throw line. Leading the Tigers was Shari Laurence who ended up with 11 going 4/14 from the field and 3/6 from the line.
The Bank North Player of the Game was Lily Thorpe.
