JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Blue Jays earned a much-needed win in girls basketball Friday with a stirring comeback, then the boys suffered another frustrating defeat.
At the Jamestown Civic Center, the Blue Jay girls came back from a 16-point halftime deficit to defeat Dickinson in overtime 70-62. Dickinson then ran away late in the game for a 91-68 boys win.

When Jamestown was held to only four first half field goals, it appeared that JHS would remain winless in WDA play.
However, with three-pointers and free throws, the Blue Jays kept cutting into Dickinson’s lead, finally tying the game on a three-pointer by Leah Trumbauer with 29 seconds left in regulation. Trumbauer hit another three-pointer in the first minute of overtime for Jamestown’s first lead of the game and the Blue Jays never trailed again.
Freshman Adisyn Junck led Jamestown (4-9, 1-6 WDA) with a career-high 25 points, 11 of which came in overtime. Junck was eight-of-eight on free throws in the extra period and made her last 14 free throws after missing her first two of the game.
Mea Ulland scored 24 points, all on three-pointers. Trumbauer had 14 points.
Jamestown made 21-of-29 free throws and hit 15 three-pointers, all but two of their made field goals.
Sadie Stevenson scored 28 points and 15 rebounds for Dickinson (5-7, 1-6), who lost for the seventh straight game.
Boys: Dickinson 91, Jamestown 68
Boston Cranston scored 24 points to lead Dickinson (7-5, 3-4).
Dickinson, who never trailed in the game, had 15 points from Dante Oyugi, 12 from Damon Glasser and 11 from Nolan Weidner.
After missing two games with injury, Dalton Lamb returned to lead all scorers with 27 for Jamestown (3-9, 1-6), but the Blue Jays lost for the fifth straight time.
Noah Meissner also scored 20 and Ryan Larson had 15.
Both Jamestown varsity teams will face Century Tuesday in Bismarck.
