MINNEWAUKAN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Senior 6’4 Forward Deng Deng had a game high 34 points, three slams and two 3-pointers to help the Indians of Four Winds/Minnewaukan defeat the Carrington Cardinals 87-41 Thursday night in Class A Region 2 boys basketball action. FWM is now 2-1 in R2 and 7-2 overall, Carrington drops to 0-3 in R2 and 1-7 overall.

The Indians jumped out to an early 8-0 run before Freshman Taylen Mehring hit a three to put the Cardinals on the board, the Indians led 22-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals hit some treys to cut the gap to 10 in the second quarter, but once again FWM just to tough and they took the lead at halftime 38-20. Deng younger brother Marial Deng added 11 for FWM. Carrington was led by Mehring with 13, including four 3-pointers, Junior Josh Bickett had 11, three treys.

Next up for Carrington will be Monday, January 15th at Rugby for a Class A non-region game, KDAK 1600/100.1 and newsdakota.com will have the game starting about 7pm.
