VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – School bus services will change for the Valley City Public School District after the school board rejected a bid from Dietrich Bus Services during their December 13th school board meeting.

During a special school board meeting on Friday, January 5th, the school board voted to move in a new direction.

Superintendent Josh Johnson said the school district’s transportation committee and the school board are now positioning themselves to take over the school bus transportation services during the 2024-2025 school year.

In December, the school board also approved signing up for a school bus routing software system at a cost of $1,189.

Johnson said the transportation committee rejected the Dietrich Bus Service’s bid of $850,000 for the 2024-2025 school year. He said right now, the school district is paying $615,000 for their services with Dietrich Bus Service’s. He said in the long run, the school district will save money by operating their own busing services.
