VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com) Max Musland continued to tear his way through the field in leading LaMoure/Litchville-Marion to another Barnes County Basketball Tournament title.
Musland scored 24 points and grabbed four rebounds in a 54-42 win over Barnes County North in the tournaments championship game Saturday at Valley City State University. He scored 78 points in the tournament, including 31 in the semifinals and 23 in the first round.
Brayan Karlgaard added 11 points and five rebounds for the Loboes, who entered the tournament as the top seed. Gunner Thielges paced the Loboes on the glass with six boards.
Will Schwehr led the Bison with 15 points, who entered the tourney as a three-seed, but upset their way into the final. Justin Schlenker added eight points for BCN in the loss.
LaMoure/Litchville-Marion won the sportsmanship award, while Marshall Judisch of May-Port-C-G captured the free-throw shooting competition. Musland, Karlgaard, Schwehr and Judisch were all named to the all-tournament team. The Bison’s Oliver Hansen, Casyn Syvertson and Nicholas Mjoness of Richland, Miken Mattson of the Valley City JV, and Tee Sylling of Maple River, also made the all-tourney team (pictured).
