JAMESTOWN – In their first home games in two weeks, both Jamestown Blue Jays basketball teams were overwhelmed by Bismarck High Friday at Jerry Meyer Arena.  The Demon girls were 63-38 winners over the Blue Jays, then Bismarck’s boys won 91-60 over Jamestown.

Jersey Berg scored 25 to lead Bismarck to the comeback victory after Jamestown had scored the first 11 points of the game.

The Blue Jays (3-7, 0-5 WDA) had their run in the first 2:58 of the game behind two three-pointers by Mea Ulland and one by Mari Anderson, but then hit only two field goals for the rest of the half as Bismarck (7-3, 4-1) shut Jamestown down with a 25-3 run.

Raya Rood added 10 points for Bismarck and Taylor Mayer scored 10 off the bench.

Leah Trumbauer led Jamestown with 13 points. Ulland scored nine, all on three-pointers.

Boys: Bismarck 91, Jamestown 60
Andre’ Austin scored 13 of his 24 in the first half as Bismarck (5-5, 3-2) took advantage of their offensive rebounding and Jamestown mistakes.

After Jamestown led 5-2 early, Bismarck engineered an 18-4 run and controlled the game thereafter.

Carson Henke scored 16 off the bench to led the Demons’ bench effort of 42 points.

Thomas Newman scored 21 to lead four double-figure scorers for Jamestown (3-6, 1-4). Ryan Larson had 16 with seven rebounds and Noah Meissner and Dalton Lamp each had 10.

The Blue Jays committed 25 turnovers and allowed 19 offensive rebounds to the Demons, who attempted 31 more shots than Jamestown.

Both Blue Jay teams will host Bismarck Legacy on Tuesday at Jerry Meyer Arena.
