CASS COUNTY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has officially charged 41-year-old Joshua McCleary and 30-year-old Marcus Creech for their alleged roles in a criminal spree that spanned from December 2020 to January 2021, impacting Cass County, Barnes County, and LaMoure County. Formal charges were filed by the North Dakota Attorney General’s Office in December 2023, following a collaborative effort by multiple law enforcement agencies.

McCleary and Creech are currently in the custody of the ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. McCleary is being held at the James River Correctional Center, while Creech is housed in the McKenzie County Jail. Among McCleary’s charges are fleeing from the Dickinson Police Department and intentionally colliding with one of their vehicles to evade arrest. McCleary had previously escaped from the Southwest Multi-County Correctional Center on June 15, 2021, before being recaptured.

Creech faces charges that include the Attempted Theft of an ATM at BankNorth in Arthur, ND. Additionally, he is charged with several offenses in McLean County, ND, such as Fleeing, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

The collaborative investigation involved the ND Attorney General’s Office, ND Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office, Barnes County Sheriff’s Office, Barnes County State’s Attorney’s Office, LaMoure County Sheriff’s Office, and LaMoure County State’s Attorney’s Office.
