Hankinson, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The RV Oakes Tornadoes started receiving votes in the media polls yesterday and they proved it by beating the Hankinson Pirates by a score of 54-17.

The game started close for both teams as Oakes was lead out of the gates by a red hot Kassidy Jackson and Brianna Schmitz meanwhile Hankinson was led by Shylin Medenwalt and Hudsyn Hubrig who both dropped in 3 pointers. The score after 1 was 15-8.

Oakes would continue the momentum in the 2nd with Lily Thorpe catching fire and going 3/3 in the quarter for 7 points. The Tornadoes would also begin their crackdown on the Pirates only allowing 7 points in the quarter as they shut down Medenwalt and Hubrig. Oakes would lead at the half 30-15.

The second half was all Tornadoes as hey wouldn’t allow a single bucket in the entire 3rd quarter and would open up the half with Molly Sitzler and Schmitz dropping 3 balls. The lead would quickly be expanded as Oakes refused to allow the Pirates up the lane. The score after 3 was 47-15.

The game would slow down in the 4th quarter as Hankinson continued to struggle to solve the Oakes defense till late when Medenwalt would get back on the board to make the final score 54-17.

The all around leading scorer was Kassidy Jackson who went 6/10 from the field and 4/7 from the stripe for 16 points on the night. Also of note was Brianna Schmitz who went 4/6 from the field and 1/2 from the free throw line for 10 points.

The Bank North Player of the Game was Kassidy Jackson.
