VALLEY CITY, ND (NewsDakota.com, photo courtesy of vcsuvikings.com) A standout season for Viking volleyball player Sadie Hansen won another achievement early this week.
Hansen, a junior from Oakes, ND, was named as a third-team NAIA All-American by the national office this week.
The award capped off a season where, from start to finish, Hansen dominated her position among her peers in the North Star Athletic Association, the region, and now, the country.
Hansen finished with 1,285 assists, and surpassed 3,000 assists for her career. She currently ranks second all-time in career assists at Valley City State. She became the first All-American volleyball play at Valley City State since Heidi Larson won the award as an attacker in 2009.
Hansen was chosen as the Setter of the Year in the NSAA, was a first-team All-NSAA selection, and won the Setter of the Week award eight times this season. Her performance helped lead the Vikings to their first ever berth in the NAIA National Tournament, and a win in the opening round of the tournament, advancing to pool play in their first appearance.
