GLENFIELD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals opened up their season with a non-division game against the Titans of Griggs/Midkota Monday night, the Class B GM Titans pick up the victory over Class A Carrington, 51-41. GM is 1-0, Carrington is 0-1.

There were early ties at five and seven in the first quarter, but the Titans led by five points at the break 24-19. Carrington’s first bucket in the third quarter came four minutes in and they cut the gap to just two points at the end of three, 30-28. The Cardinals would take the lead 34-33 with 6:31 to play in the fourth quarter, but some big free throws by Will Spickler and some field goals by Latrell Rainey would help the GM Titans win the contest. Rainey led all scorers with 15 points, Spickler added 14, including nine made free throws, all in the second half. Carrington was led by Grady Shipman with 14 points, he fouled out in the fourth quarter. Josh Bickett added 13, including two treys.

Next up for Carrington will on Tuesday night at fellow Class A RV Bismarck Shiloh for a makeup game that was postponed on December 9th due to the weather, KDAK 1600/100.1 and newsdakota.com will have the game starting about 645pm.
