Christine J Hermanson was born December 14, 1926 at the family farm in LaMoure County ND, daughter of Matt and Lena (Johnson) Gorden. She was baptized and confirmed at High Prairie Lutheran Church of rural LaMoure ND. At the age of 15, her mother passed away so she quit school to take care of four younger siblings. She married Arthur Hermanson of Litchville ND on November 10, 1945 in Webster SD. They made their home southeast of Litchville and farmed there until 1972. They purchased and moved to the farm north of Clausen Springs.
Christine worked in Lisbon for a short time at the Bird Seed Factory and in Valley City for nine years at Mr. Spindle. She was employed in housekeeping at Mercy Hospital in Valley City for nine years. Art retired from farming and they moved into Kathryn in 1985 where Christine worked at the Kathryn Kountry Store, babysat and was caregiver for many years. She attended many horse shows, rodeos, basketball games and other school activities that her children and
grandchildren were a part of. She loved to play cards and baked cookies almost every day, most of which she gave away. Christine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the WELCA in Kathryn. She and Art were married just short of 64 years when he passed away on August 22, 2009. Christine passed away on December 10, 2023 at SMP Health – St. Raphael, Valley City. The past 10 plus years have been hard for Mom and even harder for the family who she no longer remembered. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. We are so blessed that she is now free from dementia, can hear and see again and is now strolling across heaven with Dad.

The family would like to thank everyone for all the acts of kindness shown in thought, word and deed, for your prayers,
memorials and floral tributes. Thank you to St Raphael (Sheyenne Care Center) for taking care of Mom for so many years. You were like family to her.

The funeral service for Christine will be 11 am Thursday, December 14, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathryn. Visitation
will be Wednesday, December 13, from 5-7 pm at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, rural Kathryn.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, or SMP Health-St. Raphael.
