Gracie Syversen, 18, of rural Dickey, ND, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, from an accident on her farm.
Gracie June Syversen was born June 24, 2005, in Aberdeen, SD, the daughter of Daymond and Bridget (Roscoe) Syversen. Gracie had a true passion for anything Ag. It started at 3 months old riding in the combine with mom and only grew! In recent weeks when not at SDSU, she could be found in her favorite tractor chasing the combine up and down the prairie. She also took pride in telling her dad and Uncle Louie just what needed to be done around the farm. Gracie could be found on one of the family horses any chance she could. But her true addiction was cows! She got her first bottle calf at 12. At 14, she took out a loan to add some heifers to her herd. Those cows are now carrying their 4th crop of babies that Gracie was eager to see come April. She was active in EKM Rebel and Matchbox Recreational volleyball. But her true passion was Edgeley-Kulm FFA where she served as chapter Reporter in 2022 and President in 2023. This past June, she was awarded High Individual for Ag Communications – Web Design as well as her Star Award in Ag Placement, State Proficiency High Individual in Grain Production, and her State Degree at the ND State Convention. She was currently working towards her American Degree. She was also recognized at the National Convention in October with a Silver in Grain Production Proficency. Gracie graduated second in her class from Edgeley High School in May 2023 and was currently a freshman at South Dakota State University majoring in Agronomy. She was excited to start an internship with Agtegra in May 2024.
