Wyatt James Mullins, 16, of Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away suddenly on December 2, 2023, as a result of an accidental gunshot wound in Jamestown.
Wyatt will always be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, exuberant smile, baseball caps, and cowboy boots.
Wyatt was born on December 20, 2006, in Jamestown, North Dakota. During his short life here on earth, he spent it in Jamestown with his family, which he loved dearly. He attended most of his elementary and high school years at Pingree-Buchanan School until 2022. At that time, he decided to pursue his education with getting his GED, which he was working on at the time of his death. Wyatt was loved fiercely by his family and was described as a kind heart-ed child who would “take the shirt off his back for anyone” and “could light up any room with his presence”. He was a dreamer, life of the party, lived in the present, and could brighten anyone’s day with his contagious laugh and presence.
He enjoyed doing what most 16-year-old boys do, playing video games, building things, archery, hunting, fishing, outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Working on motors was also a passion of Wyatt’s and was evident in his everyday life and on his clothing. He would spend many hours with family and friends rebuilding motors that others would feel were junk. He didn’t care if he had his Sunday’s best on or pajamas, if a motor needed work, he would work on it until oil soaked all the way through his clothes and the motor was running. The love for hearing the motor fire up after countless hours of work was always apparent by the big bright smile on his face and the excitement in his voice.
We are not ready to say goodbye and will deeply miss Wyatt. He leaves behind his brother, Ethen Mullins; half-sister, Faith Mullins; mother, Nicole (Shannon) Steinmentz; father, Ben Mullins; grandparents, Paul McCann and Donna (Norm) Kastet, Linda (Jerry) Caldwell, Steve Mcleland, and Sandra Steinmetz; Aunt, Amanda McCann, Noelle (Justin Hatch) Riehl, and her children, Carson, Tyson, Madison, Emerson and Tyra Kamoni-Hatch, Cindy (Doran) Wiest), Jennifer (Tyler) Goldade; Uncle Lucas Sowell, Bill (Jamie) Steinmetz, Scott (Collette) Steinmetz, Calvin Steinmetz; great-grandma Glenice Kastet and Cynthia McCann; as well as many great aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his stepmom, Deanna Mullins; great-grandpa, Leroy Kastet, John McCann, and James Steinmetz.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday December 8th, 2023, 11:00am at the Ypsilanti Community Hall, Ypsilanti, ND. Following the celebration of life, lunch will be served at the Hall. The family welcomes all to join for lunch and continue to celebrate Wyatt’s life here on earth.
Wyatt James Mullins will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. The family requests all who are able and attend the celebration to please wear cowboy boots in memory of Wyatt.
