JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Authorities responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of 5th Ave NE on December 2, 2023, at around 12:48 am. Upon arrival, Jamestown police officers discovered a deceased male in a second-floor apartment. Two males present during the incident claimed the victim had accidentally shot himself. Subsequently, these individuals were detained for questioning and later released while officers conducted further investigation at the scene.

As of now, there is no indication of foul play, though the incident remains under investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

The Jamestown Police Department received support from the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation during the response and investigation.
