VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Several law enforcement agencies responded to a crash along the eastbound lane of Interstate 94 about eight miles east of Valley City just before 12pm on Wednesday, November 29th.
The initial report indicated that a vehicle crashed into an Interstate 94 concrete bridge structure near mile marker 300 in Barnes County.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said a 36-year-old Moorhead man is in custody facing felony fleeing charges, he was also cited for DUI following this incident.
Highway Patrol Sgt. Evan Savageau said around 11:47am, a state trooper initiated a traffic stop, the driver accelerated his vehicle to speeds of 110 to 130 miles per hour before intentionally crashing into a median fence barrier and Interstate 94 concrete structure.
The man was arrested and transported to the Barnes County jail. No injuries were reported in this crash incident.
The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Barnes County Sheriff’s office, Valley City Police department, and Barnes County ambulance.

On 11/29/2023, A North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP) State Trooper was working routine traffic patrol on Interstate 94 near Valley City. At approximately 11:45 A.M., the Trooper observed a passenger car traveling eastbound at 110mph. The Trooper turned around and caught up to the speeding vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet Impala, and attempted a traffic stop. The
Chevrolet accelerated to 130mph and fled from the traffic stop. The Trooper initiated a pursuit which covered approximately two miles. After two miles, the suspect intentionally struck the guardrail and concrete barricade at the mile marker 300 overpass, causing the suspect to lose control and enter the median striking the cable median barrier.
The suspect, Dylan Miller, 36 YOA male, Moorhead, MN, exited the Chevrolet from the front passenger door and began walking in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94. Miller traveled approximately 50 yards eastbound prior to complying with the Trooper’s commands. Miller was taken into custody without incident and was charged with felony fleeing in a motor
vehicle and driving under the influence of drugs.
Miller was transported by Barnes County Ambulance to CHI Mercy for minor injuries. The incident is still under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
