(ND Ag Connection) – North Dakota marks a significant advancement in its agricultural and energy sectors with the inauguration of the Green Bison Soy Processing plant. This $350 million facility, a collaborative effort of ADM and Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC), is located in the Spiritwood Energy Park, about 10 miles east of Jamestown.
The plant, which started receiving soybeans on September 18, has the capacity to process up to 150,000 bushels of soybeans daily. It will supply refined vegetable oil as a key feedstock for MPC’s renewable diesel refinery in Dickinson. Annually, Green Bison aims to produce 600 million pounds of refined soybean oil and nearly 1.3 million tons of soybean meal, significantly supporting local animal agriculture.
Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller highlighted the project’s impact on North Dakota’s soybean growers, emphasizing the plant’s role in keeping soybean processing within the state. This development not only adds value to the agriculture industry but also strengthens the state’s energy production capabilities.
The establishment of the Green Bison plant in Spiritwood Energy Park showcases a successful collaboration between state agencies, North Dakota’s congressional delegation, and local economic leaders. This initiative is a significant step for North Dakota, empowering farmers and advancing sustainable energy. It serves as an exemplary model of how industrial partnerships can enhance local economies and integrate agricultural and energy sectors.
