MANTADOR, N.D. (KFGO) – A 14-year-old girl is hospitalized after the horse she was riding ran into a train southeast of Mantador.

Richland County Sheriff Gary Ruhl says the girl was flown to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo and is in critical condition. Ruhl says it happened Sunday, November 12th just before 4:30pm. He says the horse may have been spooked by the train or the locomotive’s whistle. The train is owned by C-P Rail. The girl is from rural Hankinson, North Dakota. Her condition has not been released.
