Ellendale, ND (NewsDakota.com) – Thursday November 9th was the final day of the Region 3 tournament. Below are the results. All games can be heard on KDDR the Tornado and 98.3 Thunder Country.

3rd Place: Oakes Tornadoes 3 – 1 Carrington Cardinals (29-27, 27-25, 18-25, 25-21)

A tight nit affair is the best way to describe the 3rd place game. 2 of the 4 sets went to over 25 points. Set one was back and forth the entire way as neither team built a lead larger than 5. Oakes would take the set 29-27. Set 2 was essentially the same with back and forth action and no one building a big lead. Oakes would take the set 27-25. Carrington was all over Oakes in set 3 and would take a big lead of 7 which they wouldn’t relinquish. They took the set 25-18. Set 4 was back to the normal as neither team built a lead larger than 3 until the end after being tied 20-20 Oakes took the 5 of the next 6 to win 25-21,

Oakes gets 3rd in the Region and ends with a record of 20-11. Carrington ends with a record of 24-12.

Championship: LaMoure-LM Loboes 3 – 1 #9 EKM Rebels

The LaMoure-LM Loboes punched their ticket to the State Tournament for the first time in 6 years as they beat the EKM Rebels 3-1. The match started back and forth with no lead being safe as LaMoure-LM tied it late 23-23 however EKM would score the next two to win set 1 25-23. Set 2 was a tale of two halves with the first 26 points back and forth all the way to 13-13. Then the Loboes went on a giant run to win the set 25-18. Set 3 was the Loboes riding the wave of momentum all the way to a 23-13 lead. EKM would battle back a bit but LaMoure-LM put it away winning 25-20. The final set was almost a repeat of set 1 with back and forth the entire way and it being tied late at 20-20. However Lamoure-LM would take a 24-21 lead before a Hiedi Steffes block won the set and the match 25-21.

The Rebels season ends as they finish with a record of 30-5. The Loboes go on to the State Tournament at the Fargo Dome next week and rise to a record of 26-11.
