ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day number two of the 2023 Class B Region 3 Volleyball tournament was held in Ellendale on Tuesday night with two semifinal matches, here are the results:
Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 3 Carrington 2 (25-15, 25-20, 23-25, 11-25, 15-12)
In a five set thriller, the Loboes defeat the Carrington Cardinals and will move into the Region 3 championship Thursday night. The Loboes controlled most of the first two sets, and most of the third as well, but Carrington made a nice comeback and tied set three at 20 and went on to get the victory. The Cardinals cruised in set four, only trailing early on at 1-0 and leading at one point 12-2. In set five, Senior Heidi Steffes gets the winning kill, she ended up with 19 kills and three stuff blocks, Bailie Kelley added 11 kills and Tessa Rasmussen had 18. Carrington was led by Madison Johnson with 19 kills. Johnson got her 1,000th dig in set one for Carrington and Kacie Rexin got her 1,000th assist in set two for the Cardinals. LLM improves to 24-11 overall, Carrington drops to 25-11. LLM will play in the Region 3 championship for the first time since 2017.
Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 3 Oakes 1 (26-24, 25-20, 15-25, 25-23)
The Rebels of EKM will make their way into the Region 3 championship for the first time since 2006, as they defeat the Tornadoes of Oakes in four sets. This semifinal contest was the first region semifinal they played in since 2006 as well. Mataeya Mathern and Libby Mathern had 12 kills for EKM, Oakes was led by Ann Muggli with 16. No. 9 EKM is now 26-4 overall, Oakes drops to 15-9 overall.

25 minutes after – Lamoure/LM vs. EKM (championship)
