Charles E. Stensgard, 89, Oriska, ND passed away at the ND Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Fargo, ND on November 2, 2023.  His funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home chapel, Valley City, ND.  The service will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com.  An online guestbook is available there as well.  The funeral will end with military honors, and he will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Valley City.

Charles Eugene Stensgard was born in Fargo, ND to Arthur and Alice (Abrahamson) Stensgard on August 6, 1934. He grew up in the Nome, ND area and graduated from high school there. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force, 4 times over the next 12 years. He was an electrician on the aircraft and ships.

He met his wife, LuAnn in Bellevue, WA and they were married in 1966, making their home there for a few years. They moved to California for a time, then back to ND. They owned and operated Parkside Grocery in Little Yellowstone for 10 years and then made their home in Oriska, ND. Charles and LuAnn drove bus for the Fargo, ND school district.

Survivors include his wife, LuAnn; brothers, Art, James (Barbara) and Harvey (Julie); sisters, Beverly Scalise and Carol Stensgard; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, Allen, and Jack; and sisters, Marie, Betty Marion and Betty Lorraine.
