White Out. The recent snowfall in North Dakota has hampered fishing efforts across much of the state, including the Missouri River valley. DEO Photo by Mike Peluso.

Unfortunately, with the latest weather we just received up here in North Dakota, walleye fishing on the Missouri River has taken a back seat for a few days. I’m hoping things warm up enough here to get the boat back on the river shortly.
Before the snow, fishing was solid. We weren’t catching giants like they are seeing on southern Oahe, but we were seeing and catching the perfect eater-sized walleyes, with a few larger ones mixed in.
I was starting to notice a more normal fall bite happening. Vertical jigging with minnows while slipping the current was working on most days. The telltale thump of a jig bite is an addicting way to catch fish.
Again, I’m hoping to get back out on the river before ice fishing season. Speaking of Ice Fishing. Keep your eyes open for a new and exciting thing going on. It will be called Ice Fishing Central. I won’t say too much about it yet, but there will be some cool and exciting things coming. I’ll make sure to let people know about it as we go. Stay tuned!
