Lt. Christopher Messer and Col. Brandon Solberg

BISMARCK, N.D. (NDHP) – Colonel Brandon Solberg announces the promotion of Sgt. Christopher Messer to
Lieutenant. Messer joined the North Dakota Highway Patrol in September 2000 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in History Education from Dickinson State University. He attended the Highway Patrol Academy September 5, 2000, through February 9, 2001.

Trooper Messer was initially stationed in New Salem, ND as a traffic enforcement trooper, he transferred to Dickinson in 2007 continuing to serve as a traffic enforcement trooper until his promotion to regional sergeant on May 1, 2012. Messer has served as a Southwest Regional Sergeant stationed in Dickinson since that time.

Lt. Messer will serve as the Northwest Regional Commander effective November 1, 2023.
