JAMESTOWN, N.D. (KIWANIS) – Kiwanis Jamestown, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and communities, is excited to announce the Kiwanis Against Hunger event, scheduled to take place on Kiwanis One Day, October 28, 2023. This event aims to make a meaningful impact in the fight against food insecurity and bring communities together for a common cause.

The Kiwanis Club is hoping to pack 65,000 meals in three hours. These meals benefit hungry tummies locally and around the world. Since we started this project in 2010, we’ve packed 1.3 million meals and raised about $300,000.

Kiwanis One Day, an annual day of service and unity, provides Kiwanis clubs worldwide with an opportunity to work together on impactful projects. Each year Kiwanis Jamestown hosts this meal packing event to help with the critical issue of hunger, which affects millions of children and families around the globe. The Kiwanis Against Hunger event will bring together Kiwanis members, volunteers, and community organizations to collaborate on initiatives aimed at alleviating hunger. During this meal-packaging event, participants will work together to package nutritious meals that will be distributed to vulnerable populations right here in the Jamestown area, making a tangible difference in the fight against hunger.

In Stutsman County alone, about one-third of all children rely on free and reduced meals at school.

Jennifer Tostenson, President Elect of Kiwanis Jamestown, expressed enthusiasm about the event, saying, “Kiwanis Jamestown has always been committed to improving the lives of children and communities. The Kiwanis Against Hunger event on Kiwanis One Day is a powerful demonstration of our organization’s dedication to addressing critical issues, such as food insecurity. Together, we can make a significant impact and provide hope to those facing hunger. Kids need Kiwanis now more than ever.”

Local organizations across Stutsman County are encouraged to participate in the Kiwanis Against Hunger event. To find out how you can get involved or for more information about the event in your area, please contact Hayley Wolf, Jamestown Kiwanis, jamewstownkiwanis@gmail.com
